and she smiled

Was it good luck or just fate
We survived food poisoning our first date
You really can’t cook at all
she teased, and she smiled

And remember that vacation
We got lost and ran out of gas
You thought one tank would last
I asked, and she smiled

And how could we have known
We’d be arrested at that show
When everyone there disrobed
she winked, and she smiled

I felt her hand take mine
And we danced for a while
I want you to know I love you
she said, and she smiled

With all that we’ve been through
I’m glad I’m still with you
Even with your two left feet
she laughed, and she smiled
