Apples

His spiky hair, steel piercings, and visible tattoos
Disturbed the young woman as she approached
A hint at knowledge and experience
She was raised to never know
In her long, straight skirt and unadorned features.

Flushed, she looked away from the visual temptation
To explore previously unimagined possibilities
Anger rising to combat the attraction she felt,
Unwilling to play Eve to his serpent
And bite the apple he offered.
