Masks

Hiding in the traffic of humanity
Wearing masks of civility
Those who appear normal to the bystander
Disguise deep, ugly desires

At what point does one choose
To commit to destruction
Betraying hope, trust, friendships, or love
To sate an unnatural need?

When their actions reveal their true nature
Those who have chosen another path
Stand ready to stop them…

I wrote this poem about the TV show Criminal Minds. My poem Dark Forest is also about it. I love this show. It was recently renewed for two more seasons, so enjoy!
