Over the Clouds

High above the world
The clouds a thick mesh
Then a ruffled blanket
Blue from the full moon’s light
Thinning to nothing
An illuminated planet shines below.
Neon and electricity
Glowing yellow, white, and blue
Are bright and captivating in groups
But the moon’s pale blue light
Shines softly, gently in my soul.

I wrote this during a plane trip. I wanted to remember how lovely the world looked out the window that night, and how calm it made me feel.
