Perfect Circles

The golden light glints off the waters that
Lap against the hull of the old schooner that
Rocks away hesitation as
I bend to kiss my lover who
Leans forward to avoid the boom that
Swings past us in response to the wind which
Blows steadily into the white sails which
Puff forward like a proud chest that
Is ready to burst from the shirt that
Hides the quickly beating heart of
A person living in a moment of glory.

Some perfect moments like this remain
Burned into our memories like photographs
Snapped at just the right time to capture
A feeling full of sounds, sights, and smells
Bottled together like a magic potion
Capable of enchantment any time the cork is removed
Producing a sense of symmetry and balance
Rendering in the carriers of such memories
A euphoria that makes us feel whole
Loved and successful in our efforts like
A person living in a moment of glory.
